Stellaris planet designation

Jul 29, 2020 · Newbie here. Been trying to figure this out for the last hour. So energy, mining, and farms seems easy. Just fill up districts for whichever the planet has the most districts for, and set the designation accordingly. However, what do I do with the extra building slots? I know I can just build what I need, but I don't get how to choose WHERE to build it, as in which planet.
